Shahrukh Khan is an Indian film actor, as well as a film producer and television host. He began his career appearing in several television serials in the late 1980s. He made his film debut in Deewana (1992) which won him the Filmfare Best Debut Award. Khan has won fourteen Filmfare Awards, eight of which are in the Best Actor category (a record), five IIFA Awards including "Star of the Decade", eight Zee Cine Awards, nine Star Screen Awards, three Bollywood Movie Awards, two Global Indian Film Awards and many other awards and was nominated for Best Actor at the Asian Film Awards.

He was honoured Rajiv Gandhi Award for "Excellence in the Field of Entertainment" in 2002, and was among the 10 recipients of the IIFA-FICCI Frames Awards for the "Most Powerful Entertainer of the Decade"[1] In 2008, Newsweek named him one of the 50 most powerful people in the world.[2] Time magazine's 100 Poll ranked him as the 13th most influential person in the world.[3]

Apart from acting awards, Khan has been awarded several honours which include the Padma Shri, India's fourth highest civilian award from the Government of India in 2005.[4] In April 2007, a life-size wax statue of Khan was installed at Madame Tussauds Wax Museum, London. Another statue was installed at the Musée Grévin in Paris, the same year.[5] There are also statues in Hong Kong[6] and New York[7] During the same year, he was accorded the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Order of the Arts and Literature) award by the French government for his “exceptional career”.[8]

In October 2008, Khan was conferred the Darjah Mulia Seri Melaka which carries the honorific Datuk (in similar fashion to "Sir" in British knighthood), by the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakob, the head of state of Malacca in Malaysia. Khan was honoured for "promoting tourism in Malacca" by filming One Two Ka Four there in 2001.[9] He was also honoured with an honorary doctorate in arts and culture from Britain's University of Bedfordshire in 2009.[10]

he Filmfare Awards are presented annually to honour both artistic and technical excellence of professionals in the Hindi language film industry of India. The ceremony was first introduced in 1954 and is one of the oldest and most prominent film events given for Hindi films in India. The Filmfare Awards have been often referred to as Hindi film industry's equivalent to the Oscars. Khan has received fifteen awards, eight of which are in Best actor category (a record shared with Dilip Kumar) and a Special Trophy from the Swiss Consulate, from thirty two nominations.

The Star Screen Awards is an annual awards ceremony in India initiated in 1994, honoring professional excellence in film. It is the only awards ceremony in India to be involved with the Executive Director and the Governor of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Khan has won ten awards from nineteen nominations,including four for Best actor (a record shared with Hrithik Roshan), five wins for Jodi No. 1 and Star Screen Award Best Jodi of Decade (along with Kajol).

The International Indian Film Academy Awards, also known as the IIFA Awards are presented annually by the International Indian Film Academy to honour both artistic and technical excellence of professionals in Bollywood, the Hindi language film industry. They were first instituted in 2000. Khan has received six awards, four of which are in Best actor category (a record shared with Hrithik Roshan) from twelve nominations.

Zee Cine Awards

The Zee Cine Awards or "ZCA" for short is an awards ceremony for the Hindi film industry. It was first held in 1998 in Mumbai. It was not held in 2009 or 2010, but resumed in 2011. Khan has won nine awards, including six for Best actor (a record) from eighteen nominations.
